My research and education endeavors are closely interconnected with my social service engagements, which include public participation as an expert witness and “white paper” co-author in environmental health governance at multiple geopolitical scales and across many different environmental health and justice issues.  I have a record of speaking with public health reporters from state and national news media outlets both on background and on the record.  Since October 2024, I have been serving as a member of joint Bernalillo County-City of Albuquerque Air Quality Control Board.  I remain engaged in public education through ongoing collaboration with environmental education NGOs, and disaster studies and sustainability studies teaching networks.  I am serving on multiple Ph.D. dissertation and masters thesis committees at UNM in the Departments of Anthropology, Earth and Planetary Sciences, and Geography and Environmental Studies.  I also previously served as Interim Dean at SIPI in the Department of Advanced Technical Education, while also serving as Chair of the Environmental Science Program.  Since 2023, I have been serving on the Leadership Board of Accelerating Resilience Innovations in Drylands (ARID) and the R.H. Mallory Center for Community Geography at UNM.
